At a young age Micheal was taken away from his mother by FBI athorities along with his brother. Michael wasn't a small man, he stood about 6'8" and 300 lbs, and had always been a fan of the game of football. Micheal's aunt and uncle, Big Tony, had gotten tired of taking care of him so his Big Tony had tried to find him a school to go to and finally succeeded after talking to the athletic coach, Hugh Freeze, of Briacrest Christain Collage. The staff and school board pulled a meeting with Coach Hugh because they feel that he isn't ellagible due to his grades are very low and his IQ is low as well, but Hugh has faith in "Big Mike". Although the board didn't agree they let Micheal in and he became a student. After a few weeks in school teachers began to notice that Micheal hadn't been making any progress with his work and they began talking to eachother about this Oher student. One teacher, Marilyn Beasly, Micheal's Biology teacher began wondering how she could find out what Micheal really does know. So she pulled Micheal into a small room and gave him a test verbally, and to her amazment he passed the test. Although, the other teachers didn't believe in him, Beasly began telling her fellow teachers that he does know what they have been teaching him, but he can't read nor write. One day, one of the other students and his family were driving by Micheal and the father, Sean Touhy, stopped to ask, Big Mike where he was going. "The Gym," Oher replied and he asked "Why" but Micheal said "Ball practice" and Mr. Touhy believed him and drove off, but as they got only a few hundred feet away the mother, Leigh Anne Touhy, said stop the car. The Touhy family drove back to Mike, Leigh Anne got out of the and stopped Mike to see really where he was going, "I'm going to the gym," Micheal said, "But the gym is closed, So really where are you going!!!" Leigh Anne exclaims. "I'm goin to the gym," Micheal replied, "Why?" Leigh Anne exhailed, "It's warm," Micheal said.....................So the Touhy family took Micheal in and........You will have to read The Blind Side by Micheal Lewis or if your not a book reader then catch up with very close details from the movie, featuring Sanda Bullock.

Prom/Dancing

From the knowlege obtained from the 1920's Research Paper

Although currently living in the 20th century, I wouldn't have wanted to live back in the 1920's. Although, there wasn't a story found to go along with this picture but the police report said that the driver walked away without any injuries. As of the time this was published there wasn't another vehicle present at the time of the wreck, and police are investigating the cause. I've seen several drunk driving accidents and never in my life have I seen one this bad, so I don't feel the driver was drunk. On the other hand, by the sircumstances of the light pole this car had to be going well over 100+ mph in order to push the pole completley through the engine, transmition, front seats and finally stop in the middle of the back seat. Without anyother knowlege of the crash site I cannot comment or speculate any further.

The Authour Elie Wiesel is one man who has been put through harder times than most people will ever see. At a young age him and his family had been deported to another country, but they could not stay together as a family, while him and his dad had been put with other men, his mother and sisters where put with another group and later the mother and youngest of the sisters died. Later on in this harsh life of Elie, president Jimmie Carter had assigned him to be the chairman of the Holocaust foundation and later, Elie and Mrs. Wiesel built their own organization, The Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity.

In the early years of the Nazi regime, the National Socialist government established concentration camps to detain real and imagined political and ideological opponents. Increasingly years before the outbreak of war, SS and police officials incarcerated Jews, Roma, and other victims of nationality and ethnic groups in these camps.

This picture to the left reminds me of the holocaust because of the fact you can see the figure but in all reality there isn't a person in the figure its just a statue. Well lets see just what I would commit myself to with as much effort as people do to make it all the way in the Olympic's.

One commitment I would put this much effort in achieving is to get back to being physically fit again, because its one achievment I want so much to complete. I've been heavy since the first year I went through the third grade, Yes I've been through twice, because I went through my first divorce with my parents and also I was rebelious to rules, so as a result I ate what I wanted and well weight took over, and I became a fat kid. Loseing weight isn't hard but keeping it off and becoming more physically fit is the main challenge I'm facing. Workouts that include cardio, muscle toneing, and fat burning are the main workouts that I'm trying to do so that when I get older and retirment gets around the corner, if our economy doesn't plumish, I'll be healthy enough to still work and not just live off retirement. In the future I hope to own a business and hopefully pass it down to my children, so that when the time comes I die then my kids will have an inheritence with the possibility of having money.

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

The main character, Amir, was a wealthy Afghani who didn't learn from this past. As most men in the armed forces, John is a muscular, and sometimes aggressive soldier, but Savannah is a small town church girl. As this story develops Savannah and some of her friends were hanging on the pier when accidently one of the guys leaned up against the railing and knocked her bag off into the ocean. Well, John is was not far from them when he over heard Savannah scream,"Oh no my bag!!!," and jumps off the side of the pier. Randy, the guy who knocked the bag off, hurled himself down the dock to retrieve the bag, but by his supprize John had already fetched it and was out of the water when he and Savannah got to the waters edge. On later in the story, Savannah and John start hanging out, having casual dates, working on the housing project together until John's leave is up. Before John leaves Savannah asked John to make her a promise, "Please write me everyday and tell me everything," "Okay?" So as John returns to the normal routine of serving his country, Savannah keeps helping with the housing project. After Johns tour is up, will he return to his summer love or will he return to find that Savannah has moved on?

I hope that this will inspire you to go read this book, Dear John by the best selling author Nicholas Sparks, and if you don't like to read just go rent the movie. But I have to confess that me myself don't like to read but this story wasn't one I could put down many times. The movie is great but just like all other books that come out before the movies, the book's always better than the movie.

Click on Dear John Movie Trailer to see a short mini-clip of the film.

When is torture a "good" thing?

In times of war, or when things could be harmful, then I feel torture is a good thing. Also I feel the joy of life even threw the hard times, when I learn the "what to's and what not to's" but most importantly is what these times make me. I am thankful for my mother who works 48 hours a week (four 12 hour days), takes care of my step-dad, helps with all of our animals, and makes sure my brother and I gets up for school. Another person I'm thankful for is my step-dad, he doesn't work because of a heart and lung disease, but while he's at home, he cleans house, feeds the animals, and makes sure my brother and I get up and ready while my mom's at work. Also, I'm thankful for my dad who works two jobs to keeps the bills payed, but whens he's not working he'll help out around.

Black House Review

In, Black House, Stephen King writes about a mid thirty old man who is a retired police detective in a small town, Wisconsin. I was assigned this book in my English class, and from the second chapter on this book became one of my least favorite books even tho I don't read that much. One of the reasons I didn't like it is because the fact that Melinda gets raped and IT wasn't prosecuted or the wasn't killed for what he had done. My fellow class mates liked it but me personally displaying this girls life and not bringing this rapest to justices is just unamerican. All in all the plot's horribly unrealistic, most of her anger is external and nothing was done about it. I discussed this with a female teenage friend of mine and even she was shocked that the main character didn't try and prosicute her raper. The whiny girl who is the first person narrator is very cynical and sarcastic, but also her situation entirely had me severly disgusted by the way she just let him walk free, so he could rape another girl. As mentioned earlier, Melinda should have procicuted him. All of her friends hate her for breaking up this summertime party where their was an substancial amounts of underage drinking. Her friends were total witches to her, I would be overjoyed if they wanted to help her bring this guy down but I mean man, if I was at a party and I had been arrested for underage drinking but this girl got raped and brought him to justice. And the reasons that they are angry at her are ignorant and retarted. If I am expected to believe that this is normal behavior and realistic reasoning for female teens then my life isn't normal. The style is interesting...I guess. I was told that this book was included in our literature curriculum because it was in our bulling unit. Apparently the story encourages you to grow, like a tree. Hence, the tree on the cover. It's a cliche but it kind of made me want to not have a girl if and when I have kids because all the crap teenage girls go threw. I would not incourage anyone to read this because of everything I've explained above.

Touching Spirt Bear

This was an amazing story of survival and spirituality, Touching Spirit Bear inspired me in a weird way. Cole is a teenager who is troubled, living abusive family situation. Cole deals with his anger by lashing out. But one day he goes off almost killing ne of his classmates in a fight. Sent to a juvenile facility, Cole is presented with two choices; jail or going to a healing program that involves spending three months on an isolated Alaskan island. Reluctantly, Cole goes for the program. Cole's journey of healing, began with a terrifying encounter with the mysterious white "spirit bear" that nearly mauls him to death while on this island. With two native tribesmen guiding him through traditional methods of meditation and troubleshooting, Cole slowly and realistically moves through his inner anger. But will he be able to gain the forgiveness of his victim and turn his life around? A powerful tale of the vitality and resiliance of the human spirit, the healing power of the wilderness, and the painful but rewarding path to forgiveness. This book would make a perfect english/liturature novel and a great short read for students trying to read the required number of books for english.

Copper Sun by Sharon Draper is about a African girl named Amari who lived peacefully in her village, untill the pale white strangers came and killed most of her tribe. From there her life changed dramaticly, the few survivers were captured and shipped to the New Land. On the ship, all women were raped and beaten by these white strangers. Once the journey on the ship was over, the survivers of the long journey were auctioned off and their lives would change once again. Amari was sold to a wealthy man, Mr. Derby, who was very strict to his slaves. She tries to run away with the other slave girl, Polly, who Mr. Derby recently baught. But Mr. Derby's son was aware of them disapping, and goes in search of them. Will they escape freely, or will they get caught and pay for this? While reading this book I made a text to life connection. There are many in people in this world who are stereotypic and take advantage of most everyday life. In this book, the pale strangers invaded a tribe, who had a decent life, and killed Amari's people as if they were just prey. I think this book is really good for teenagers to see how well they do live and how easily it could change in an instant. Also, all the characters seemed very real and in some degree, they suffered from a life changing event.

Book Review for Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I had some mixed emotions about The Hunger Games. I really go into this book after the first couple of chapters, but the whole idea of kids killing in the name of ultimate common reality TV was rather a turn-off towards me. I kept reading in the hopes that I could understand it enough to get a grade in english, but I can't say that The Hunger Games wasn't interesting when I got into it enough in order to comprehend the moral. I had a similar feeling for Katniss and Peeta. I wanted to hope both made it out okay. I guess I was hoping for that fairlytale ending for the both of them. With that being said, I have admit that the book held my attention threw out most of chapters, until I was talking to another classmate, who told me the ending. I was about 75 pages away from the ending and just lost intrest with knowing what would happen. Anyone who loves books should read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and english teachers should have students read it for a grade.....this will catch most teenage minds pretty quick.
